KUALA LUMPUR: A 29-year-old freelance writer has been remanded for four days to assist in police investigations over alleged insulting remarks over the passing of the late Sultan of Johor.

He is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act, said Federal Commercial Crimes director commissioner Datuk Koh Hong Sun

The man was nabbed on Monday in Kota Baru, Kelantan by Federal Commercial Crimes Investigation Department (CCID) officers.

The man, believed to be involved in the film industry and was brought to Bukit Aman for investigation and remanded Tuesday.
