SPM and STPM school leavers, parents, teachers, university students, working adults, members of specific industries, in fact anyone who is seeking higher education opportunities should check out the Career and Scholarship Guidance Seminar or Vetri Padigal 2 happening at Dewan Semarak, Universiti Malaya today.

The half-day seminar is organised by Yayasan Strategik Social (YSS), MIC National Education Bureau, MIC Youth, Wanita MIC, Putera MIC, Puteri MIC and various non-government organisations.

The event aims to inspire and encourage youths with the carreer opportunities available in the job market as well as highlight the courses and scholarships available at both private and public universities.

“It is the perfect place to look out for courses to pursue and I’m not just talking about traditional courses like medicine, engineering and dentistry but courses like welding, shipping, plumbing, beauty, hotel management and others,’’ said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk S.K. Devamany in a press conference.

“We want to highlight the opportunities available out there and tell people that there is life after SPM.

“Just because you did not get to do your prefered course does not mean that the door is closed on you. There are many other courses to consider and we are here to help you find something that is right for you,’’ Devamany said.

Those attending the seminar will be guided by facilitators who will answer queries and provide feedback and suggestions and recommendations.

Industry experts will also be on hand to speak about the benefits and experience of being with a particular industry.

The Career Guidance seminar will also be held in other states over the next 4 weeks.
